The Art of Class IV Restoration
Date: 03 Aug 2024
Venue: Kathmandu, Nepal
Synopsis:
Restoration of anterior fractures challenge the skills of the clinician, who needs to replicate the form, texture, the shade nuances and characteristics of the patient’s natural tooth while assuring the restoration remains invisible. A clear understanding of the tooth anatomy, layers and shades as well as the material characteristics with a minimally invasive restoration strategy, enables clinicians to deliver the desired aesthetic outcome while maximizing the preservation of healthy dental tissue.
The interactive, one-day workshop will provide an insight to the updated minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry (MiCD) restoration protocols that can easily be adopted in daily practice to provide lasting direct aesthetic restorations. The participants will understand the step-by-step protocol to restoring a Class IV restoration with an in-depth discussion on tooth form, shade, topography and how they can optimize the use of bioactive composites to mimic the natural tooth. They will also experience simple finishing and polishing techniques to achieve lasting natural shine.
Learning objectives:
- A predictable, muti-layering recipe to mimic the natural colours and translucency of the tooth
- To bevel or not to bevel: various approaches to masking the transitional line in direct anterior restorations
- A rational finishing and polishing protocol to blend with natural tooth form, shape and texture
